Tambota Posada Amazonas Our stay in the lodges of Rainforest Expeditions will provide with an unsurpassed opportunity to experience the Tambopata National Reserve as well as hear and observe an incredible abundance of wildlife.
Over 1,300 bird species, 200 mammal species, 90 frog species, 1,200 butterfly species and 10,000 species of higher plants are protected within this reserve. The world’s largest known mineral clay lick where hundreds of parrots and macaws of up to 15 species congregate daily to ingest the detoxifying clay, is also within the reserve, less than 500 meters from your lodge.
Days 1 : Puerto Maldonado – Posada Amazonas Transfer by motorized canoe to the lodge. Briefing, activities and accommodation. (L,D)
Day 2: Posada Amazonas -Tambopata Research Center Early morning hike and boat ride to Tambopata Research Center . Observation of fauna and flora around surrounding trails.(B,L,D)
Day 3: Tambopata Research Center Observe and enjoy the world’s largest macaw clay lick where hundreds of parrots and macaws of up to 15 species congregate daily. During these two days you will also be able to appreciate incredible flora and fauna endemic to this part of Peru.(B,L,D)
Day 4: Tambopata Research Center – Posada Amazonas More wildlife observation. Mid afternoon return to Posada Amazonas.(B,L,D)
Day 5: Posada Amazonas – Puerto Maldonado After an early breakfast we will return to Puerto Maldonado for our flight back to Lima. (B)
