The Expedition provides an intimate small ship cruising experience, it has capacity of 126 passengers. Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica 22 Days

Day 1 – Arrive Montevideo
Arrival transfer will be waiting for you upon arrival into Montevideo.

 

Day 2 Depart Montevideo (1B,1D)
Today you will embark your M/S Expedition ship in the afternoon.

 

Day 3-5 At Sea (2B,2L,2D)
Become familiar with your ship and meet your other fellow travellers, as we begin to sail east. Today will also be a day of lecture and information sessions to learn of the extraordinary Antarctic region.

 

Day 6-7 The Falkland Islands (2B,2L,2D)
Be amazed at the biological diversity and extraordinary scenery of the southern islands. It is here where you will find the largest Black Browed Albatross colony, and Penguins are abundant here. In Port Stanley meet the hardy local inhabitants whose colourful houses provide contrast to the long dark winters.

 

Day 8-9 At Sea (2B,2L,2D)
As we continue sailing east, we set course for South Georgia Island. These days at sea are filled with some lectures to prepare us for landings. Keep your cameras handy for the many whales that inhabit these waters.

 

Day 10-13 South Georgia (4B,4L,4D)
Arrive at South Georgia the home of many marvels, other wildlife and including Shackleton’s Grave. The Island has several former whaling stations as well as having a huge colony of King Penguins that is a highlight of this part of the journey. Subject to weather but we may have four full days to explore the island.

 

Day 14-15 At Sea (2B,2L,2D)
As we turn south and sail for two days, we follow Shackleton’s route as we head towards Elephant Island and the Antarctic Peninsula.

 

Day 16-19 Antarctica (4B,4L,4D)
As we set foot on the Antarctic continent, see some of the most unique wildlife and inspiring scenery in that you will ever see. Subject to weather, upon lading you may encounter gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguin rookeries, Weddell, crabeater and leopard seals, and orca, humpback and minke whales in the cold Antarctic waters.

 

Day 20-21 The Drake Passage (2B,2L,2D)
As we head to Ushuaia, take time to reflect on some of your memorable landings, pictures and take in some final lectures but also be alert as you may be able to spot some whales along the way.

 

Day 22 Depart Ushuaia (1B)
As we arrive into Ushuaia, commence disembarkation after breakfast.

 

Spirit of Shackleton 22 Days

Day 1 Arrive Ushuaia
As you arrive into Ushuaia, take some time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the world’s most southerly city.

 

Day 2 Ushuaia (1B,1D)
This evening begin sailing on the M/S Expedition through the Beagle Channel.

 

Day 3 At Sea (1B,1L,1D)
Become familiar with your ship and meet your other fellow travellers, as we begin to sail east. Today will also be a day of lecture and information sessions to learn of the extraordinary Antarctic region.

As you arrive into Ushuaia, take some time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the world’s most southerly city.

 

Day 2 Ushuaia (1B,1D)
This evening begin sailing on the M/S Expedition through the Beagle Channel.

 

Day 3-4 Ushuaia / Beagle Channel / the Drake Passage (2B,2L,2D)
We begin our crossing of the passage that bears the name of the 16th century English explorer Sir Francis Drake, during these days you will receive daily lectures from your expedition team about the next few days. Keep an eye out for the first sightings of icebergs, whales, and albatross along the way.

 

Day 5-6 Antarctic Peninsula & the South Shetland Islands (2B,2L,2D)
As we set foot on the Antarctic continent, see some of the most unique wildlife and inspiring scenery in that you will ever see. Subject to weather, upon lading you may encounter gentoo, chinstrap and Adélie penguin rookeries, Weddell, crabeater and leopard seals, and orca, humpback and minke whales in the cold Antarctic waters.

 

Day 7-8 The Polar Circle Crossing (2B,2L,2D)
As we set sail towards southward along the western coast of the Antarctic Peninsula, you will pass colossal icebergs and see countless colonies of penguins.

 

Day 9-11 The Antarctic Peninsula & the South Shetland Islands (3B,3L,3D)
We head back through the ‘inside passage’ (depending on weather conditions) to continue our exploration of the Antarctic Peninsula.

 

Day 12-13 The Drake Passage (2B,2L,2D)
As we head to Ushuaia, take time to reflect on some of your memorable landings, pictures and take in some final lectures but also be alert and make your way to the observation deck for some final whale sightings..

 

Day 14 Depart Ushuaia (1B)
This morning begin your disembarkation.

 

Journey to the Antarctic Peninsula 15 Days

Day 1 Arrive in Ushuaia
As you arrive into Ushuaia, take some time to enjoy the sights and sounds of the world’s most southerly city. Overnight in a local hotel.

 

Day 2 Ushuaia- Embark MS Expedition
This evening begin sailing on the M/S Expedition through the Beagle Channel.

 

Day 3 to 4 – Ushuaia, Beagle Channel, the Drake Passage
We begin our crossing of the passage that bears the name of the 16th century English explorer Sir Francis Drake, during these days you will receive daily lectures from your expedition team about the next few days. Keep an eye out for the first sightings of icebergs, whales, and albatross along the way.

 

Day 5 to12 – The Antarctic Peninsula & the Weddell Sea
Sail to the Antarctic Peninsula’s much less visited eastern side, The Wedell Sea, a remote place that was once Shackleton’s “Endurance” and where your polar expedition starts. Head south and explore the ice edge from the safety of your ice classed expedition vessel. Here we will have 8 days to explore a region giving you the longest possible time in this magnificent region, subject to weather conditions.

 

Day 13 to14 – The Drake Passage
As we head to the port of Ushuaia, review the highlights of your Antarctic experience with our lecturers and staff, and keep your eyes open on the observation deck for some final whale sightings.

 

Day 15 – Depart Ushuaia
Disembark in the morning.
