High Water Itinerary  (December – May)

Day 1 – Friday: Iquitos, Amazon River
On arrival into Iquitos Airport, you will be met and transferred to the boat for embarkation and Check-In procedures. Settle into your cabin before you head to the Upper deck for your safety Drill and briefing of whats to come in the next few days.
Afterwards get ready and head to your Welcome dinner and in the evening, if you are up for it, sip a nightcap on the Upper Deck, under the stars, before retiring.

Day 2 – Saturday: Amazon-Yacapana-Yarapa-Clavero Lake 
Today head to what the locals call “The Islands of the Iguana” due to the large number of these reptiles that live on this island and which are well protected. See the famous Amazon River dolphins, pink or gray, along your route. Pass close to lush islands, giving you the opportunity to take good pictures of the tropical flora and fauna. After lunch take a canoeing and swimming excursion to Lake Clavero, return to ship for dinner.

Day 3 – Sunday: Uyucalli-Yanallpa-Dorado River-Pacaya Samiria National Reserve
After breakfast head to explore more about the interesting black water stream, part of the vast Amazon flooded forest within the Pacaya Samiria
National Reserve. With your naturalist guide, learn of the jungle and its flora that make it what is called a gallery forest due to its dense vegetation that creates a tunnel of leaves. As you return back to the ship for lunch, have your cameras ready as may see parrots, macaws, and fluffy monk saki monkeys along the way. In the afternoon explore the Dorado River and take the Night Excursion before returning to the ship for dinner.

Day 4 – Monday: Birthplace of the Amazon-Village Visit-Nauta City
At drawn if you wish to see the spectacles sunset over the origin of the Amazon River, head to the upper deck to see such sunrise like no other.
Once you have breakfast and you join the rest of your fellow travellers, start the day by heading towards the edge of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve,
a flooded forest covering five million acres of the Amazon basin; where you will see of one of the greatest waterfalls in this area in between the Ucayali
and the Marañon Rivers. Enjoy a visit to one of the local communities along the Marañon River, interact with local villagers and learn about their traditions and folklore, return to ship. In the afternoon visit the City of Nauta, the main point where villagers from around Amazonia come to sell the products they harvest within their rural communities. Return to ship for dinner.

Day 5 – Tuesday: Maranon River-Yanayacu-Pucate River-Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
This morning, visit the Yanayacu – Pucate River where you will be able to observe many species of flora and fauna, especially macaws and several species of primates like squirrels monkeys, capuchins monkeys and the famous river dolphins, either pink or gray that call this black water river home. In the afternoon visit another local village to meet the native people of Amazonia and learn of their daily lives. Return to ship for dinner.

Day 6 – Wednesday: Samiria River-Village Visit-Nauta Cano-Pacaya Samiria National Reserve.
This morning enjoy a lectures from one of the naturalist guide, talking about the sustainable development projects within the Amazonia, then head to visit one of these projects, where you will see one of the developments is the planting of palms to obtain oil. Afterwards hike further into the jungle to explore wildlife and learn about the value of medicinal plants found here. Keep an eye out for the famous Ceiba tree, the highest in the Amazon. Time will be given for those who wish to swim in the waters of the Samiria River. After lunch head to Nauta Cañom known as the Forest of Mirrors due to its dark lagoons, which reflect the surrounding scenery. Here you will see toucans, macaws, and iguanas, among many other species. Return to ship for dinner.

Day 7 – Thursday: Maranon River-Casual terra Firme Forest Walk-Yanayacu Yacapana.
As you enjoy breakfast, the ship will be sailing along the Marañon River, home to different species of flora and fauna. Hike towards the Casual community to see a plethora of wildlife, have your binoculars ready to observe tanagers and orioles as well as various reptiles and amphibians. Then after lunch head to the Islands of the Iguana and board one of the skiff,
giving you the opportunity to take plenty of pictures. En route, look out for one of the world’s largest aquatic plant called “Victoria Regia.” As the sun goes down, photograph the freshwater Amazon dolphins both gray and pink. Enjoy the last dinner on cruise with your fellow travellers.

Day 8 – Friday: Check Out-Disembark-City Tour-Transfer to the Airport.
Morning excursion to the flooded zone that borders the city of Iquitos, to observe the houses and shops that actually float on the Itaya River for several months of the year.  Visit the traditional market of Bellavista Nanay, to see products from the Peruvian Amazon including exotic snacks like the Amazon Caterpillar. Return to ship for lunch and further transfer to Iquitos for a City tour then to the airport.

 

Low Water Itinerary (June – November)
Day 1 – Friday: Iquitos-Amazon River

At dawn watch the sunrise for the first time on the Amazon River, then head to breakfast for the commencement of the day’s activity. Board boats launches and sail with your guide towards the Yarapa River and see life on this river as you see local fishermen paddling in their canoes and going about their daily lives. Have your binoculars ready to spot wildlife such as terns, tropical songbirds, black collared hawks and sloth amongst some of the wildlife you will see. After lunch take a canoeing and swimming excursion to Lake Clavero, return to ship for dinner and enjoy a classic Peruvian pisco sour on the Upper Deck while watching the sunset. Dinner

start the day by heading towards the edge of the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, a flooded forest covering five million acres of the Amazon basin; where you will see of one of the greatest spectacles of the Southern Hemisphere: the birth of the Amazon River where you see the formation of the greatest waterfall in the world – nature at its best between the Ucayali and the Marañon Rivers.
Enjoy a visit to one of the local communities along the Marañon River, interact with local villagers and learn about their traditions and folklore, return to ship. ready to observe tanagers and orioles as well as various reptiles and amphibians. Then after lunch head toTahuayo river for some piranha fishing. Return to ship and continue sailing downstream, towards Iquitos
through the night. Dinner

Day 8 – Friday: Check Out-Disembark-City Tour-Transfer to Airport.
Subject to weather conditions – This morning visit an animal rescue center called “Fundo Neycer” where monkeys and birds receive much needed care from experts in the management and recovery of wildlife species.
Return to ship for lunch and further transfer to Iquitos for a City tour then to the airport.
