A comprehensive tour of Peru that will allow you to absorb the country’s beautiful ecological reserves, snow capped mountains, fertile valleys, magnificent archaeological ruins, the Amazon wildlife and interact with its wonderful people.

Explore Lake Titicaca, “The highest navigable lake of the World at 3,810 m”, from Puno (Peru) to Copacabana (Bolivia), visit its colonial church and famous Dark Virgin. Boat to the Island of the Sun, the cradle of the Andean civilization. Visit the city of La Paz set in the foothills of the Andes Range. Continue southwest crossing the highlands until Uyuni salt flats, with over 10,000km2 of salt. Then through Abaroa National Reserve with Verde colored lagoons, where over 30,000 flamingos from the 3 Andean species are nesting together at 4,278 m, finally descend to of San Pedro de Atacama (Chile).

Day 1 Arrive in Lima
Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

 

Day 2 Lima
Breakfast .Tour of Colonial and Modern Lima followed by a visit to the Larco Herrera Museum. (B)

 

Day 3 Lima/Pisco/Paracas
Transfer to bus terminal. Regular bus to Paracas (4 hours). Visit the Paracas Reserve. Transfer to selected hotel. (B)

 

Day 4 Paracas/Ballestas Is./Paracas/Ica
Excursion to the Ballestas Is. Continue to Ica for overnight. (B)

 

Day 5 Ica/Lima
Overflight by small plane of the Nazca lines. Return to Lima for overnight. (B)

 

Day 6 Lima/Puerto Maldonado
Amazon lodge experience 3days/2nights. Opportunities for wildlife viewing and wilderness. (B,L,D)

 

Day 7 Puerto Maldonado
Different lodge activities and wildlife spotting. (B,L,D)

 

Day 8 Puerto Maldonado/Cuzco
Transfer Pto Maldonado Headquarters – Airport. We retrace our river and road journey back to Puerto Maldonado, our office and the airport. Depending on airline schedules, this may require dawn departures. Meet and assist in Cuzco and transfer to your hotel. (B)

 

Day 9 Cuzco
Free day for optional activities (B)

 

Day 10 Cuzco/Sacred Valley
Full day tour to Pisac Market and Ollantaytambo Fortress. Overnight in the Sacred Valley. (B,L)

 

Day 11 Sacred Valley/Machu Picchu/Aguas Calientes
Morning departure on one of the world’s great train journeys to Machu Picchu. Shuttle buses take you up a 2000-foot serpentine road to the entrance of the fabled Lost City of the Incas. Enjoy a guided tour of the ruins, lunch at the hotel and time to explore at your own pace before returning to Aguas Calientes for lunch and overnight at selected hotel. (B,L)

 

Day 12 Aguas Calientes/Cuzco
Morning free, afternoon train back to Cuzco for overnight. (B)

 

Day 13 Cuzco/Arequipa
Flight to Arequipa, meet and assist at the airport. Rest of the day at leisure. (B)

 

Day 14 Arequipa.
Morning city tour and visit to Santa Catalina Convent . Afternoon free. (B)

 

Day 15 Arequipa/Colca Canyon
Colca Canyon 2 Day/1 Night – Early departure towards the highlands passing through Yura-Pampa Cañahuas and La Pulpera. Overnight in the Colca Canyon area. (B,L,)

 

Day 16 Colca Canyon/Puno
Visit the “Cross of the Condor” early in the morning, return to Chivay for lunch. In the afternoon, continue by bus to Puno, crossing the Altiplano with magnificent views of lakes and wildlife. (B,L)

 

Day 17 Puno
Breakfast. Tour of the Uros Floating islands and Taquile Islands with lunch. This excursion will take you to the highest navigable lake in the world, Titicaca, to visit the floating islands of the Uros Indians and Taquile. (B)

 

Day 18. Puno / Copacabana / Island of the Sun
Transportation from Puno to Copacabana (3 – 4 hours), a nice town in the shores of Lake Titicaca, boat to the Island of the Sun (1 hour), land near the Pilkokaina ruins and have a typical “aptapi”. Hike 1 hour to Ecolodge La Estancia. Overnight. (LD)

 

Day 19. Island of the Sun / La Paz
DON’T MISS THE SUNRISE! Boat to the north to see the ruins of La Chincana (1 hour). Hike crossing the island to the ecolodge (3 hours), with great views of the lake and the local culture or boat. You’ll hike down crossing the Garden of the Incas in Yumani (1/2 hour), and boat to Copacabana (1 hour), visit the famous Dark Virgin, its great church and a stroll of the town. Transportation to La Paz (3 hours). Overnight in hotel. (BL)

 

Day 20.  La Paz
A 4 hour morning tour in of La Paz, including the area of the street markets, rich in handicrafts, weavings and witchcraft artifacts. The tour goes through the colonial part of the city, San Francisco Church, Gold Museum, Murillo Square and the outdoor replica of the Tiahuanaco temple. Then to the modern part of town, dropping down a lot in elevation to finally visit the Valley of the Moon, enjoy all of its natural geological formations. (B)

 

Day 21 Flight La Paz / Uyuni – Full day Uyuni saltflats
Flight from La Paz to Uyuni (08.15 – 09.15 m), transfer to your hotel nearby in Colchani in the shores of the Uyuni saltflats.

 

Visit the village and its surroundings to see locals producing salt, enter this natural wonder of the nature with over 10.000 km2 at 3.692 m of salt is something really special. Trip through the saltflats crossing to Isla Incahuasi (2 hours), a special habitat of giant cactus and volcanic rocks. Then north to Coquesa to see old mummies at the foothills of the Tunupa volcano. Trip back to Colchani (2 hours). Enjoy a nice sunset and overnight in a unique salt hotel. (BLD)

 

Day 22. Colchani / Uyuni / Alota / Villamar
Travel south crossing the town of Uyuni and visit the place known as the Cemetery of Train, here old rusty trains travel to their final destination. Continue onto the southern highlands passing through some of the surrounding villages such as San Cristobal, Culpina K and the rich high Andean valley of Alota (4 hours), where when we head south, you will see the stone formations that have developed over time due to erosion, finally arriving Villamar where you will overnight.  (BLD)

 

Day 23. Villamar / REA (Reserve Eduardo Abaroa) / San Pedro de Atacama
Travel to REA and see Laguna Colorada, geysers “Sol de Mañana”, Chalviri lagoon and its hot springs of Polques. We then travel onwards to the deserts of Pampas de Dali until also known as “Laguna Verde”, a beautiful olive green lagoon at the foothills of the Licancabur Mountain. We then travel and cross the border to Chile and descend into San Pedro de Atacama. (BL)

 

Day 24. Arqueological Tour – Half Day
(9am to 12:30pm): In the morning a half day Archaeological tour of the San Pedro Region including the Museum Padre Le Paige and the Incan ruins of Tulor and the adobe homes of Quitor dating back some 3000 years. Free afternoon to explore the town

 

Day 25. Depart San Pedro
After breakfast, transfer to Calama airport (approx. 1.5 hrs) (B)
