This is a great tour to combine with Nicaragua Connection Tour. Our tour starts in the capital city of San Jose and goes south west to Manuel Antonio National Park, rich in wildlife and one of the most beatiful beaches in the country.

Then, head north along the Pacific Coast to Monteverde Cloud Forest Area to experience the suspended bridges and observe nature and wildlife from a different perspective.

Continue Northwest to Rincon de la Vieja National Park Area along a scenic road and enjoy the thermal waters, the SPA, the mud or steam bath offered at some of the hotels in the region.

The tour concludes with an early morning transfer to the Nicaraguan border through Penas Blancas.

Day 1: Arrive in San Jose
Welcome! Upon your arrival at San José International Airport our English-speaking representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel. At this time you will be provided a short briefing and an informative travel handout. ON Grano de Oro 3* or similar

Day 2: San Jose – Manuel Antonio (B)
A private transfer will take you down to the Pacific Coast. Short time before you left the capital the close Pacific Ocean as well as the Nicoya Peninusla with some small islands can already be seen. Between Jacó and Manuel Antonio you may observe the large Palm Tree plantations ‘la palma africana’ which is an important source to produce cooking oil. Your hotel lies on a slope around 140m above the Ocean allowing breathtaking views. There is a free shuttle to the beach at fixed times. ON at Playa Espadilla Hotel 3* or similar

Day 3: Manuel Antonio National Park (B)
Visit the smallest National Park of our country. A local guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel in company with other guests. Many animals can be seen such as sloths, birds, kongos and of course the mono-titis. The morning hours are the best to observe nature! Do not miss the twig light tour at the hotel’s own Reserve (entrance to be paid on the spot). ON Playa Espadilla Hotel 3* or similar

Day 4: Manuel Antonio – Monteverde (B)
After breakfast a private transfer takes you back north and after about 2 ½ hours start to climb up the mountains to get to the cloud forest region of Monteverde. The climate on 1500m above sea level is very pleasant, a bit chilly at night. The hotel garden’s invite for a walk. The village itself is located less than 2km from the hotel. Nevertheless there are several bars and restaurants in walking distance.
ON at Arco Iris Lodge 3* or similar

Day 5: Montevered Hanging Bridges (B)
The best way to explore and take advantage of this superb region is to hike across the famous suspension bridges. A transfer will pick you up and drives you to the entrance of the bridges. Amazing views across the tree tops and even down onto the Pacific Ocean await you. The afternoon is at your leisure, why not visiting the frog or snake museum? Or a humming bird and butterfly garden? There is also one at Selvatura. (Optional). ON at Arco Iris Lodge 3* or similar

Day 6: Monteverde Cloud Forest Region – Rincon de la Vieja (B)
In the morning a shuttle bus (shared transfer) picks you up at the hotel. Your journey continues down towards the Panamerican Highway, towards the north. 30min north of Liberia, the road winds up the hill of the impressive Rincón de la Vieja Volcano. As the climate in this region is influenced by the dry winds from the north-west, the country side in some parts can be compared to the wild-west.

Evening: You may enjoy the thermal waters, the SPA, the mud or steam bath  (extra cost). ON at Hacienda Guachipelin 3* or similar

Day 7: Rincon de la Vieja (B)
A great day awaits you: horses can be seen everywhere in this area. Today explore it on the back of a horse, accompanied by a local guide and possibly other guests on a tour towards a nice waterfall.

The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure to relax and walk across the wide property where also bubbling mud holes can be observed as well as Sulphur Rivers. ON at Hacienda Guachipelin 3* or similar

Day 8: Rincon de la Vieja – Penas Blancas (Nicaragua Border) (B)
An early transfer picks you up at the hotel by 8am. Drive towards the boarder to Nicaragua where you arrive at around 8.30-09.00am. Farewell of the driver. End of services.
