This 24Day Galapagos, Andes and Amazon Explorer Tour provides the traveller with a wonderful diversity of wildlife, culture and vibrant cities, perhaps some of the best places to visit in South America. In Chile, you will stay in modern and cosmopolitan Santiago, where you will have an introduction to the city and its attractions. There is a wide range of restaurants, shops and bars to sample and many museums and art galleries.

Next, the tour goes to the Galapagos Islands for a wonderful cruise of the islands where Darwin wrote his theory of evolution based on what he observed from the animals behaviour and adaptations. The animal and bird life here is still very rich and impressive. After Galapagos, the tour goes to mainland Ecuador to visit the Unesco World Heritage city of Quito, known for its incredible churches and plazas and its amazing art galleries and museums. Visit the equatorial line known as the middle of the world and literally be half in the northern and half in the southern hemisphere. Our travellers will also visit Otavalo and its famous indigenous market, where bartering and trade of animals and produce takes place as it has for centuries. Here you will see the locals in their traditional clothing and see them living in their nearby villages.

Continue to Peru and first visit will be Lima – City of Kings and once the headquarters of the infamous conquistador Francisco Pizarro. Visit the beautiful colonial quarters of Lima and the world famous and very beautiful Larco Herrera museum – host to many spectacular pre-colombian artefacts. Lima is also famous for its gastronomy and is host a multitude of first class restaurants. Next, is the Amazon for a wonderful animal and bird experience. Lodging is in a comfortable lodge outside of Puerto Maldonado, with many daily activities in which to participate with the guidance of specialist naturalist guides. Continue to Cuzco –also known as “the navel of the world” to the Incas. Visit the Plaza de Armas and its churches, the cobble-stoned streets of San Blas, the arts quarters and Sacsayhuaman with its huge boulders cut to precision and the other ruins nearby. Cuzco also has a lively night life with many restaurants, bars and local entertainment. The Sacred Valley and a visit to Pisac market and the fortress of Ollantaytambo is the lead up to the visit to Machu Picchu “Lost city of the Incas” – un forgettable sight of green majestic peaks of intrigue and mystique and the re-constructed ruins of a once grand city and spiritual centre.

Experience Lake Titicaca from both the Peruvian and Bolivian sides ; enjoy a day trip to the floating Uros Islands and Taquile Island (where men knit and the women farm) and enjoy a hydrofoil cruise on the highest lake in the world, exploring Sun Island and the shore town of Copacabana before arriving in La Paz, the most indigenous metropolis in South America, see the locals in their bowler hats and traditional clothing – a city that is a strange mix of ancient and modern and is host to the famous Witches Market that can provide a cure for almost anything. Explore this city and Moon Valley just outside of La Paz where a limestone scenario resembles that of the moon’s surface.
